Teeth Whitening
We provide our patients with effective and safe options to enhance and brighten the whiteness of their teeth. Teeth whitening is one of the most common and popular cosmetic dental procedures and provides you with an efficient and non-invasive method to receive the results you’ve been looking for.
What Causes the Need for Teeth Whitening?
The majority of us start with strong and thick enamel, which is the white outer layer of a tooth. Tooth enamel protects your teeth from the erosion and effects of chewing, grinding, acid, and trauma. However, your teeth’s enamel becomes worn down over time, often becoming transparent and discolored. Discoloration, yellowing, and staining can be caused by several factors, including dietary habits like frequently eating strong-colored and acidic foods, tobacco, teeth, and enamel wear from constant use, grinding, and aging.
For those with a regular diet of coffee, tea, wine, dark-colored beverages, and highly-acidic food consumption, teeth staining is more likely to happen over the years as the enamel is more prone to staining and natural erosion. Erosion of the enamel will also cause natural yellowing because the sublayer dentin becomes exposed, which is naturally yellow or grey, as the enamel becomes thin.

During your regular chewing routine, the teeth’s dentin layer maintains its barrier and stays intact while micro-cracks wreak havoc on the enamel. In these cracks, stains and debris build up, creating a lackluster appearance and resulting in discoloration. Teeth whitening removes this build-up of stains and debris and enhances the appearance and whiteness of your teeth.
KöR Teeth Whitening (2-Step Process)
We are proud to offer one of the most exclusive and effective teeth whitening procedures at Pristine Dental NYC.
The KöR Whitening System is one of the few teeth whitening services that are permanent, do not result in teeth sensitivity, and will provide you with long-lasting results. and give you freedom to consume tooth stain-causing drinks and food like coffee, red wine and tomato sauce.
The most optimal Kor Whitening System will be reviewed and chosen for each patient, based on the darkness level and cause of tooth discoloration.
The process works by restoring your teeth’s ability to absorb oxygen deeply into the teeth, then dissolving and erasing the stain molecules. The most common KöR whitening treatment is broken down into two steps which both require in-office visits:
-
Step 1 is preconditioning your teeth by undergoing a 2 week regimen of at-home whitening with a KöR whitening tray that is specifically designed for you at the first visit. The patented and customized KöR whitening tray is different from all other whitening trays because it is specially made to prevent saliva from getting inside and mixed with the whitening product.
-
Step 2 is applying the in-office KöR whitening session. Your gums will be applied with a protective barrier before a stronger KöR whitening gel is applied to your teeth during this session. The at-home whitening (step 1) must be completed for the most effective results.
Dramatic results are already seen at each step! In order to maintain the beautiful contrasting results, a maintenance whitening kit is provided at the end of your second visit. Exceptional and promising results are delivered during every treatment and our patients absolutely love the KöR whitening!
Classic Professional Teeth Whitening (1-Step Process)
We also provide our patients with a more general in-office teeth whitening option at our dental office for those seeking a quicker solution.

A gum barrier will be applied to protect your gums prior to the application of the whitening gel. Once the activated whitening gel has been applied to the teeth, it creates a chemical reaction, breaking down stains and discoloration, and ultimately lightening the whiteness of the teeth. Our general whitening service only requires one office visit for approximately 2 hours before you can begin seeing results.
At-Home Teeth Whitening Solutions
For patients who prefer to whiten their teeth at their convenience from home, we can also provide at-home whitening kits that include a custom whitening trays. Whitening trays may not be needed if you have essix retainers. Our at-home whitening kits are far more effective than over-the-counter whitening strips, whitening or charcoal toothpastes, and oil-pulling.
